Business Services
& Training Programs Provides training and educational opportunities to
existing and new businesses through small business seminars, luncheons, monthly
breakfast meetings and programs which members have shown interest. Education
Chamber members and Point Isabel Independent School District administrators
join together to meet during the school year to discuss and address issues of
common concern for the school district and the area business community, particularly
as it applies to quality education and workforce development. Meetings are scheduled
throughout the school year and serve to foster open communications and awareness.
Governmental Affairs Monitors governmental affairs at all levels
to determine and report on impact on local and area business. Act as a liaison
for the Chamber where necessary. Islanders Ambassadors of the Chamber,
they welcome new businesses and act as an available volunteer pool for community
events. Island Enhancement Identifies ways in which the Chamber
can continue to contribute to the improved appearance of the Island. This includes
organization and successful execution of projects submitted to and approved by
the Chamber Board of Directors. Every effort is given to work in harmony with
existing entities whose focus is similar to that of this committee Leadership
Laguna Madre This program identifies, educates and motivates emerging
leaders to improve the Laguna Madre area through personal and collective commitment.
Using a nine-month curriculum, the program teaches participants about major community
issues and ways to find solutions to existing problems. During the course of the
program, participants will make important contacts with other community leaders
in areas such as government, industry, education, health and commerce. If you
