| South Padre Resort Rentals, Inc. was incorporated in July 1990 by its founder and President, Larry C. White. South Padre Resort Rentals has come a long way. When they started, they made reservations, kept track of arrivals and departures, and managed housekeeping on circle sheets. “Today, thank goodness, “ Larry White says’ “we use computers.” From the beginning, they knew they were in a very competitive business and would only succeed if they provided guests with consistently high quality accommodations and take care of their needs in an efficient and friendly manner. South Padre Resort Rentals has a two-fold challenge in meeting the guests’ and owners’ needs.
On the guest services side, the focus of the company is very similar to that of a hotel. They service walk–in traffic at the front desk, which is located in the Mall at Sunchase. Over the years, they have built a large customer base of return guests and are constantly striving to acquire new business. From their administrative offices, they handle guests’ needs with a full service housekeeping department and laundry facilities. The other side, the owner services side, is that of a real estate management company since each unit is individually owned. They work closely with the owners, making sure rental revenue is optimized. They also manage the maintenance of the units. Maintenance orders can range from something as minor as changing a light bulb to handling the complete remodeling of a unit. There is a balance in keeping the guest happy and keeping the owner happy. About a year into the operation, they developed their motto of “Yes, I can.” They found that if they say yes (when possible) to guests or owners, it saves time, builds loyalty and is more beneficial in most cases. Their 800 number has been the biggest source of making reservations over the years. One of the main sources of reservations in the past used to come from advertising in the Hotel/Travel Index. Today, the internet has become a more visible avenue to making reservations. South Padre Resort Rentals changed the name of its website four years ago to www.gosouthpadreisland.com, which speaks for itself. They are encouraged by the traffic and requests for reservations from the site. South Padre Resort Rentals invites everyone with services that guests might be interested in to contact them for a link exchange that will be beneficial to all.
