This position will lead the South Padre Island group sales market, provide direction to sales staff and moni-tors sales activities for the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. Insures that a beneficial sales environment is maintained with all market segments on a local, state, regional, and national basis. Plans, forecasts, enhanc-es and participates in sales missions to ensure that booking quotas are met and goals and objectives for the entire destination are achieved. The objective of the group sales division is to market South Padre Island as a desirable, welcoming and affordable meeting and convention destination to potential and established ac-counts and increase hotel occupancy by being a liaison between event planners, organizations, hotels, busi-nesses and clients. This position will serve as an advocate for South Padre Island being an ideal site for group tours, especially on offseason weekends. This position has additional involvement as well with religious group tours, youth group tours and motor coach tours in general. Must possess a valid State Driver’s Li-cense. Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in marketing, tourism, hospitality, business, sports management or a closely related field preferred. Seven (7) years of closely related experi-ence or any equivalent combination of related education and experience to be determined appropriate by the City.
